Earth Day is fast approaching. In it's honor, Connor has been learning all about composting! Connor listened to a read aloud of the book Compost It by David Barker. He used his Tobii and Ipad to answer questions about composting and to match new vocabulary words such as carbon, nitrogen, landfill and decompose to their definitions.

Connor used the information he learned in our read aloud to sort food images into two categories, what can be put in a compost and what cannot be put in a compost. Connor used his knowledge about keeping meat and dairy out of a compost to help him with his sorting. For example, chicken WOULD NOT be something to put into a compost. An apple core WOULD be something to put in a compost.

If you are interested in learning more about composting watch this short video clip that Connor helped find on the National Geographic website! It shows just how easy it is to get a compost started!
